FAQs
WHAT SIZE COMFY STRAP DO I CHOOSE?
If you are choosing between two sizes, opt for the smaller size.
For instance, I normally wear a large, but could also wear a small if I needed to.
Somebody who normally wears a small could not wear a large and make it work.
The listed sizes are what they can cinch down to, but they can still be adjusted wider.
We just have more than one size so we can maximize the soft and comfy part of the strap for everybody!
ARE YOUR PACKS WATERPROOF?
While our waist-packs are made out of waterproof materials, they are not seam-sealed. This means that they perform well in wet and rainy conditions, but should not be submerged during river crossing or tossed in a puddle.
While highly water-resistant, they are not waterproof.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN FABRICS?
Ultra200 - The lightest fabric we use, a woven UHMWPE laminated with PET film. It's amazing fabric, but not as durable as ECOPAK.
ECOPAK - A bit heavier and thicker than Ultra200, but a lot more durable against abrasion. It's made of recycled polyester a with a C0 DWR coating (has no fluorocarbons), and has cross-woven UHMWPE reinforcement. A bit heavier than the other fabrics, but the most durable.
UltraGrid - Not as thick as the ECOPAK, but thicker than the Ultra200, it's made of Nylon that is also laminated with a C0 DWR coating (no fluorocarbons), and is cross-woven with UHMWPE reinforcement. This one is more flexible and not as stiff as the Ultra200 or ECOPAK. It's lighter than the ECOPAK, but heavier than RBC or Ultra200.
RBC - It's an acronym for recycled bag cloth. It's more of a classic ripstop with a C0 DWR coating. It's as thick as the ECOPAK, but on the more flexible side. It's heavier than Ultra200, but lighter than ECOPAK or UltraGrid.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PATCH MY GEAR?
An adhesive tape that is designed for backpacking gear would work really well on small items like fanny packs, pack organizers, etx.
WHY DIDN'T MY HIP-PACK COME WITH A STANDARD NYLON STRAP?
If you ordered a Comfy Strap while ordering a hip pack, the Comfy Strap would have replaced the standard strap in your order.
If you would like to receive a standard strap with your order, let us know your request in the "Special Instructions" form at checkout.
WON’T MY PHONE FALL OUT OF THE OPEN POCKET ON THE SUMMIT BUM™?
In all normal scenarios, no, it will not. We use a binding around the edges of the belt-sleeve that significantly mitigates any sagging as the material wears out.
If your belt is properly tightened and the main compartment of your pack has a few items in it, everything should sit perfectly fine, like the pockets on your pants! It takes a handstand or leaning over without bending the knees to angle it enough to lose anything.
In testing, we run, jump, and bounce. It takes a very deliberate set of motions to get something like a phone to slip out of the easy-access pocket. So, if you are on a very technical section of trail where your pack may turn upside-down, then you may want to put valuables inside of the zippered compartment!
If you still don't think you are comfortable with that, send us an email and we can work out putting a button or zipper on the easy-access pocket for you.
ARE THEY CALLED FANNY PACKS? HIP PACKS? BUM BAGS? CHEST PACKS?
Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes!
CAN THE PACKS BE MACHINE WASHED AND DRIED?
Machine washing is not recommended. Detergent can break down the materials in the fabric and the heat from the dry cycle could also cause damage. Washing by hand with a mild soap and water solution and allowing to air dry is the best method.
CAN THE COMFY STRAPS BE WASHED AND DRIED?
Although the elastane materials in the fabric would degrade from detergents and the heat from dry cycles, it would be similar to a stretchy waist-band in a pair of shorts or pants.
Synthetic wash and air drying is recommended.

WHERE ARE THE BACKPACKS?
We took the backpacks off of the site so that we can keep up with Summit Bum orders.
Although, they were popular, creating backpacks didn't help the business a whole lot, but it did cause order fulfillment-time to increase significantly.
If you are interested in a backpack, send us an email and we might be able to coordinate the details!
